Why did QuestionMark decide to join the Think2030 platform?
Questionmark is a Dutch think tank, working in several European countries. Our mission is to contribute to a healthy, sustainable, and fair food system. With our research and publications on food retailers, we aim to feed policy makers in the food system with facts on how market demand influences healthy, sustainable and fair production and consumption. To support the outreach of evidence-based knowledge, we seek partnerships and welcome the opportunity to become part of knowledge-sharing networks. We hope the Think2030 platform will offer valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration with other think tanks, enabling us to align strategies and make our work more complementary.
What do you think can be Questionmark’s biggest contribution to the Think2030 platform and its activities?
We believe our research and publications focused on the demand side of the food system complement the work of other organisations on the Think2030 platform. Therefore, we want to create opportunities for collaboration, to bring together our work on the demand side with other work on the production side of the food system.
Why is it important that the Green Deal continues beyond 2024 and what should be its main priorities after these most recent EU elections?
We think the Green Deal must continue beyond 2024 to ensure the long-term sustainability of Europe’s environmental goals and a future-proof economy. Extending the Green Deal supports ongoing efforts to combat climate change, protect biodiversity, and transition to a circular economy. This continuity is necessary to meet the EU’s 2050 climate neutrality target and ensure that policies for sustainable agriculture and healthy and sustainable diets are fully implemented. Discontinuation could stall vital progress and the transition towards a greener, more resilient future.
What are you looking forward to most about being part of Think2030?
We look forward to the knowledge exchange, new connections, and potential collaborations fostered by the Think2030 platform. We are excited to join forces across borders and to grow and strengthen the movement for European sustainable food policies.
As an open discussion platform, we are always happy to welcome new partners and organisations working towards a more sustainable Europe.
